It’s especially gratifying for an artist to have the opportunity to work with clients that that they appreciate and support. Such is the case with myself and Redscroll Records.
Over the past two years they have been kind enough to hire me to illustrate logos for stickers and tote bags, posters for store promotions, and t-shirt designs. It would seem that my style is a good match for their artistic needs. For instance, I recall getting an inquiry for a poster that went something like this:
Redscroll: “We need a flier for the store.”
Me: “Okay, do you have anything specific in mind?”
Redscroll: “Well, we like robots, owls and lasers.”
Me: “How about a robotic owl shooting lasers from it’s eyes?”
Redscroll: “Yes, go with it.”
If only every project went so smoothly.
I also had the chance to create a thrash metal styled Redscroll Records logo to be dropped onto an illustration by a very talented artist that goes by the name Halseycaust. The end result is an amazing t-shirt, likely to spook children and old folks.
Redscroll Records is celebrating their second anniversary this month, which is remarkable these days. I figured letting my reader know all about them would be a nice tip of the hat. If you happen to live in the area pay them a visit. You listen to music. They have music. They will sell you the music to listen to. Here’s to many more years of tune peddling.
